Privacy Policy
This policy describes how WiFi Analyzer (“the app”) handles information on your Android device. It is written to match what the app actually does. If that ever changes, this policy will change with it.
What stays on this device
There is no account. Scan history, speed results, coverage maps, device names and your settings are stored in a local database on this phone. Widgets read a small snapshot of the last measurement so they can update without waiting on the network. Android backup, if you use it, may include settings; measurements stay in the app’s own storage until you delete them.
What can leave the device
Four things can leave the device:
- Anonymous usage events go to Firebase Analytics so we can see which features people use. They never include SSIDs, IP addresses, MAC addresses or names you type, and advertising identifiers are not collected.
- When you run a speed test, traffic is sent to Cloudflare’s public speed-test endpoint, which is how throughput is measured.
- The optional public-IP lookup contacts an outside server to report the address your ISP assigned. The address is masked in the UI unless Advanced mode is on.
- A feedback email is created only if you choose to send one from your own mail app.
We do not sell your data, and the app does not show ads.
Permissions
Nearby Wi-Fi devices (Android 13+) or location (older Android) is requested only so the system will return the list of nearby networks. The app declares that it never uses that scan to work out where you are, and it does not store or send your location. Notifications are requested only if you turn connection alerts on in Settings. The app never changes your Wi-Fi configuration.
Background work
Connection alerts and the hourly check are off until you turn them on. Alerts only compare the current connection with the previous one and notify you of a drop or a network change — they do not run a speed test. The hourly check records signal and a short latency probe so History has something to chart. Both stay on the device.
Purchases
Nothing that is measured is paywalled. If you later buy Premium through Google Play, Play processes the payment. This app never sees your full payment details. Until Play products exist, the Premium screen says so instead of inventing a checkout.
Deleting your data
“Delete all saved measurements” in Settings clears scan history, speed results, coverage maps and device names on this phone. Uninstalling the app removes the local database with it.
Anonymous usage events already sent to Firebase cannot be retrieved from the phone after uninstall. They are not tied to an account or advertising identifier.
Children
WiFi Analyzer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this policy in the app and the date above. The Play Store Data Safety section will be updated to match.
